Timmy Thomas - Why Can't We Live Together , 1981 Bootleg and Ben's new T-Connection Mix
This is a mashup/bootleg mix of Timmy Thomas and T-Connection’s At Midnight made by yours truly, which found its way on the B-side of a Donna Summer Megamix, which I made to prove the point that I could make it. The Timmy Thomas Mashup on the B-side (made in just a few hours),went on a bigger journey than the A-side, A Belgian record company ‘took’ this mix, had this Mike Anthony sing on top of it, and released it as their own. When people started to realize the ‘origins’ of this mix, the company re-recorded everything, fed the new versions amongst the illegal versions, and thus conveniently obscured the amount of ‘bootleg-versions’ sold.
Now, many decades later, The Timmy Thomas track, as well as the T-Connection track happened to be together on the High Fashion label, making this release possible.
One side contains the original 1981 version, transferred from the original 38cm/s tape.
And the other side features a tight re-creation of that Mashup, keeping it simple and to the point.
